<image:caption>KATHERINE MONTGOMERY is a director, producer, and visual anthropologist. She practices an ethnographic approach in her work, which explores stories around the working class and unexpected community spaces. Her thesis for her MA in Visual Anthropology from the Freie Universität in Berlin was a short documentary about a rural strip club in Northern Michigan titled BIG BONS that has screened at dozens of film festivals across the country. Since then, she has contributed as a writer on documentaries including Academy Award-winner Lucy Walker’s BRING YOUR OWN BRIGADE for Topic Studios and CBS, and she has served as a producer on documentaries and docu-series for The New York Times, Vice Studios, and National Geographic, among others. She most recently co-produced Alice Gu's DEAR MS: A REVOLUTION IN PRINT for HBO Max. Katherine was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2025. She is currently in production on her first feature doc as a director, executive produced by Chloé Zhao’s Book of Shadows. She splits her time between her Topanga CA home and fieldwork in Alaska.</image:caption>
